Child suffers serious head injuries in beach fall
A CHILD was taken to hospital with serious head injuries following an accident on the beach in Eastbourne.
Whilst returning home from the town's Remembrance Day parade today (Sunday), Eastbourne RNLI’s inshore lifeboat crew were called to help a child who was hurt falling from a groyne on the beach at Holywell.
The child is reported to have suffered a serious head wound and bruising.
Fortunately, the combined rescue crews of HM Coastguard, the ambulance service and the RNLI lifeboats were all assembled at the war memorial and were only minutes away when called into service.
The Inshore Lifeboat crew were on scene very quickly to provide emergency care or transportation if necessary.
However this was not required and the child was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital by ambulance.
The remainder of the emergency services were stood down.
