Cash raised in memory of Chris
Friends and family of Chris Lambird who died from cancer earlier this year have raised more than £10,000 for the Friends of Eastbourne Hospitals.
Thirty-nine-year-old Chris died in May after a two-year battle with
T Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma and at his funeral people who wished to donate money were asked to give to the hospitals' charity.
That money was added together with other various charitable events over the last five months – including a charity auction at a golf day organised by Bradleys, the recent Herald five-a-side football tournament and a raffle at the Rotary's Caribbean Ball – and was presented to Peter Nash, chairman of the Friends.
The money will be spent specifically on the Pevensey Ward at the DGH where Chris received his treatment during his courageous fight against the illness.
Chris' father, David Lambird, said, "Our family and Chris' fiance Julie would like to thank everybody who has donated money and been involved with the fundraising events.
"We plan to continue to raise money for this and other cancer related charities in Chris' memory."
Throughout his life Chris lived in Eastbourne, Hailsham, East Dean and Horam and until his illness was diagnosed in May 2005 he worked at his family business, Eastbourne Motoring Centre at Cavendish Bridge.
