Employers and training providers were on hand to offer advice to youngsters at cavendish School last week.

More than 100 young people from the school in Eldon Road attended the annual careers day and it has been hailed as the biggest and most successful event in the school’s history.

The school, which recently became an academy, invited a wide range of businesses to the event.

Students were able to learn about further education courses, career paths, apprenticeships and management programs.

As a result of the successful fair, Asda and Sainsbury’s have offered Cavendish Year 11 students the opportunity to do one day a week extended work placement at the supermarkets.

Alex Cook, a civil litigation partner with Stephen Rimmer Solicitors, attended and said, ‘’It was a genuine pleasure for us to be involved with the careers fair at Cavendish School with other local businesses.

“Personally, I enjoyed trying to twist some young arms into considering a legal career whilst pointing other young aspiring lawyers in the right direction. It was great to be involved with the careers fair and we hope those that attended will stay in touch as they continue to progress in their studies and future careers.”

Cavendish School is now looking for businesses and college to take part in 2013’s event.
