Businesses join prominent town hotelier to celebrate latest venture

EASTBOURNE hotelier Sheikh Abid Gulzar welcomed members of the county’s business community to his latest venture at a celebration lunch on Friday.

Mr Gulzar and his son Sasha have recently completed the purchase of the 48-bedroom Lions Boship Farm Hotel on the A22 at Hailsham.

Guests at the party on Friday included Councillor Peter Jones, leader of East Sussex County Council, Brett McLean, chair of the East Sussex Federation of Small Businesses, Wealden MP Charles Hendry, county councillor Roger Thomas and Hailsham Mayor Jo Bentley.

Councillor Jones said, “This hotel - regularly used by the county council - is in a great position centrally to welcome new trade from across East Sussex.

“It’s great news that Mr Gulzar is investing in the property,” he said.

Charles Hendry MP was the keynote speaker and praised Mr Gulzar for his support of local charities.

Charities represented at the lunch included SASBAH (Sussex Association of Spina Bifida)

CRUSE Bereavement Care East Sussex, Eastbourne Sovereign and Eastbourne AM Rotary Clubs and the Starfish Project.

Mr Gulzar said, “I am delighted to have bought the Boship and we are planning considerable investment.

“I will also be continuing to support local charities here in East Sussex, which means so much to me.”
