Breaking news: Phones back on after homes and hospital left in the lurch

Phones across Eastbourne should be coming back online.

A power supply problem at BT’s Eastbourne exchange this morning left thousands of people across the town and nearby parts of East Sussex unable to make calls.

And, as well as homes and businesses, the DGH was also affected by the problems.

However, a spokesman for BT confirmed that power had been restored to the exchange this afternoon and that normal service would be resumed by 3pm.
