CONCERNS about a relationship between 15-year-old Megan and her maths teacher Jeremy Forrest had been raised and investigated at Bishop Bell School before the pair ran away to France together.

Police were called on Friday when Megan Stammers failed to attend school. She had boarded a ferry on Friday night with her maths teacher, sparking a cross-Channel search.

This week it has been revealed Megan was having additional maths lessons with Forrest and that concerns about their relationship had been raised within the school.

Terry Boatwright, executive head teacher at the school, said, “Because the investigations are on-going we’re not going to comment in detail.

“However, the school and the county council had been addressing and investigating concerns that had been raised, in line with procedure, when this happened.

“That investigation will continue and we will decide what action to take.”

It has also emerged that a message was sent from Megan to a friend from someone else’s phone to say she had arrived in France safely.
