Author donates cheque to appeal

Ted Hide

Ted Hide

Eastbourne author and historian Ted Hide visited Eastbourne all-weather lifeboat station this week to meet with some of the crew and present a cheque to the new lifeboat appeal.

Ted’s books – The Fisherman of Eastbourne and the Pleasure Boatman of Eastbourne – are recognised as being the definitive works chronicling the history of events and the many characters associated with the seas off Eastbourne over the centuries.

This history inevitable involves Eastbourne lifeboats with whom Ted and his ancestors have a long and proud association.

During his visit, Ted presented a cheque on behalf of John Baker, member of the Mauchline Ware Collectors Club, to the Eastbourne new lifeboat appeal.
