Assaulted cyclist sought by police

POLICE are trying to trace a cyclist who was racially abused and assaulted by a taxi driver near Roselands.

Witnesses have told officers they saw the taxi driver shout at the cyclist and throw the cycle at him on Seaside Road, opposite Bamboo Garden fish and chip shop, at around 6pm on May 17.

Police are investigating the incident as a racially aggravated common assault.

PC Michelle Joynson said, “Witnesses describe an incident which was abusive and nasty. We are keen to identify the victim and any other witnesses and would urge them to contact police.”

Witnesses of anyone with information about the assault is asked to call police on 101.
