Academy status

STAFF and pupils at Seaford Head School are celebrating after its application to become an academy was approved.

Academies are independent, state-funded schools, which receive their funding directly from central government, rather than through a local authority. They have more freedom than other state schools over their finances, curriculum and other criteria.

Immediate changes at the school include changing its name from Seaford Head Community College to Seaford Head School and investing in staff to further improve the quality of learning and teaching across both key stages.

Head Lynton Golds said, “This is a very exciting time for Seaford Head School. The newly acquired status has already brought benefits to the school and the trustees and governors are confident that things will continue to improve for the staff, the students and the Seaford community.”
