A new sergeant for neighbourhood police

The neighbourhood policing team at Eastbourne has a new police sergeant.
Acting Sergeant Stella Wells will managing the neighbourhood constables and Police Community Support Officers.
Having completed nine years’ service in the Royal Air Force, acting Sergeant Stella Wells joined the Metropolitan Police in August 1995 serving a diverse community in Southall, North West London for 10 years.
In June 2006 she transferred from the Metropolitan Police to Sussex Police and took up a posting in Eastbourne.
During her 17 years service Stella has worked in a number of departments including response, specialist investigations, licensing, retail crime, violent crime and neighbourhood policing.
She has previously held two other acting sergeants positions; the first helping to drive the districts performance in dealing with public place violent crime, the second covering the town centre neighbourhood policing team on a temporary basis for sergeant Gareth Evans whilst he took on temporary promotion as a response inspector.
Stella said, “I am pleased to have been given another opportunity to make a difference within the local community and am always keen to take on a new challenge. I am looking forward greatly to working with partner agencies and the local community to provide a safe and welcoming environment for people to live and work in.”
Sergeant Julian Williams has returned to the neighbourhood policing post for Devonshire and Meads wards in Eastbourne to replace Sgt Gareth Evans, who has taken up a temporary inspector post in Hastings. Julian has previously been the town centre sergeant. He has 22 years police service.
