Buses will begin running up Grove Road and down South Street from the end of this month.
Next Sunday (May 26) will see the first Stagecoach service Number 3 bus travel through Little Chelsea on its way to Meads and the foot of Beachy Head from Terminus Road.
Bus stops have already been installed in the two busy roads for the amended service.
The initiative is the result of lengthy discussions between the Eastbourne and District Chamber of Commerce, Stagecoach and East Sussex County Council in a bid to give better access to the Little Chelsea shopping area of Eastbourne.
The news has been welcomed by traders in both streets.
A spokesman for East Sussex County Council said, “We were happy to install the bus stops and also to carry out highways work to ensure the buses were fully accessible from the kerb.
“This is a good example of partnership working to help improve service provision.”
Not everyone has welcomed the news however and on the Eastbourne Herald website several readers have made comments on the story including Carter who said, “Well there’s nothing we can do about it now.
“Tesco’s is coming and bringing with it a load of dirty, smelly buses, and probably causing the demise of the excellent Mace shop and Spar, effectively extending the Terminus Road slum into what is currently a nice couple of streets.”
