The RNLI’s all-weather boat launched yesterday afternoon (June 2) after an angling boat suffered engine failure
Search and rescue co-ordinators received conflicting reports that initially indicated a group of eight anglers aboard their 27 foot vessel were in trouble in Eastbourne Bay. As a result of this information, Eastbourne RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was launched.
When on scene, two miles south west of the pier, the volunteer lifeboat crew found a 17ft beach-launched open fishing boat with just two people aboard.
The boat was towed to the beach near Eastbourne Angling Club.
Due to the shallow water, Eastbourne inshore lifeboat crew donned their dry suits and waded out to recover the fishing boat and its two crew members.
