Eastbourne RNLI’s allweather lifeboat launched early this morning (Monday, July 220 when a small angling boat with three people and a dog on board became entangled in fishing gear.
Just a mile out of Sovereign Harbour the vessel had run across submerged pot markers which had been dragged under the surface by the strong spring tide.
Lifeboat mechanic Dan Guy was transferred to the trapped vessel to assist with attaching a towline. Once secure, the boat was pulled clear of the obstruction into clear water. With full engine and steerage capability returned, the vessel and its relieved crew continued with their angling mission.
