Pier sale idea quite shocking

No, Mr Charles, you are not alone in being shocked that Eastbourne Pier can simply be put on the open market for sale, and I thought I was long past being surprised at the antics of our council.

Having listened to a small part of the Wimpey appeal hearing last week, I was amazed that the Rodmill roundabout meadow had been designated as building land by our council a few years ago, hence the difficulty of turning down Wimpey's proposal.

It seems no matter who is in control, the council is hell bent on turning Eastbourne into just another urban sprawl. Holidaymakers will turn away in droves.

So, Mr Charles, more power to you. Of course we should restore the Pier to public ownership. How about asking Sir Fred Goodwin for a contribution (plus a few MPs who've now got more time on their hands).
