Park Run has proved real tonic

MAY I publicise the recently started and ongoing Eastbourne Park Run - part of a national Park Run scheme for joggers and runners.

It takes place at Shinewater Park each Saturday morning at 9am and is a set distance of five kilometres.

After years of twilight jogging, sometimes with a friend but mostly a solitary trudge round Old Town Rec, this meeting of like-minded ‘keep fitters’ has been a real tonic to me.

I thank the organisers for their inspiration and, at the same time I encourage others to give it a try, just about everyone can manage 5km – it was a bit of a shock to two of my children!
