‘No representation without taxation’

A dictum often quoted is “No taxation without representation.”

I would like to see this reversed. “No representation without taxation.”

Council Tax is the least fair, most iniquitous tax there is and it must be changed.

Everyone who uses local services should contribute to those according to their means.

We should now start considering and discussing the alternate systems such as a local sales tax.

However, until a fairer system can be introduced, only those who pay Council Tax should be allowed to vote in local elections.

It is far too easy for those who make little or no contribution to local society to vote in individuals and groups who then spend willy-nilly with no regard to those that have to pay.

For those who will undoubtedly ask of me; “Yes I do pay Council Tax. £37.65 per week every week of the year. And no, I don’t live in a mansion.”
