Link road plan should be rejected

MR BONNICI in last week’s Gazette wants our MP to support the Bexhill ‘link road’ and to see this extended to Eastbourne and even to building the long rejected south coast highway.

The present plan is rightly being questioned and should have been rejected outright.

It is extremely costly, environmentally damaging and unlikely to bring any long term benefit.

Both economic and social arguments are fully explored at http://hastingsalliance.com/.

The previous government are to blamed, not for carefully considering and then rejecting an earlier version of the scheme, but for suggesting alternative solutions, including rail improvements, which they then did not fund.
