LETTER: Chris will be sorely missed

Chris was a true businessman and some might say he was old-school, but in this mad and busy world we live in, he was quite unique and refreshing. He was in more ways than one a larger than life character (I know he wouldn’t mind me saying that). He was very warm and approachable yet at the same time you wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of him.

Chris was so hard-working from when he first started Radio Cars, to when he managed Diplocks and Ziggy’s nightclub. He was involved with Sussex Cars from the very beginning in 1985 when they had just three drivers. It now has approximately 170 and is one of the largest taxi companies in the South East. He had a real passion for working in the taxi trade.

Over the past few years, my daughter Abby and I have been involved with organising many charity events in Eastbourne. We have raised thousands of pounds and this would not have been possible without the help of Chris Islip and Sussex Cars. He was a very generous man and through Sussex Cars he supported various other charities and sponsored many local events.

We will always remember Chris for his charm and great sense of humour, but he will be sorely missed by everyone at Sussex Cars and by everyone who knew him.
