Eastbourne really is a wonderful place to live

I agree with Sheikh Abid Gulzar (Herald February 1). Eastbourne is a wonderful place to live with many events throughout the year for the community and visitors alike.

Free events such as the resurrected Carnival, Airbourne and the ever-popular Bonfire Procession will only survive with the involvement of the community and local businesses.

With this in mind Eastbourne Bonfire Society is staging a presentation regarding this year’s Bonfire Procession and Fireworks.

The presentation will be held at The Crown and Anchor, Marine Parade, on Tuesday, February 26, from 7.30pm-9pm. The evening will feature a range of speakers from the society, council, community, charities and businesses followed by a full buffet kindly provided by our host Heidi Lane of The Crown and Anchor.

Invited guests include Stephen Lloyd MP, the mayor Mike Thompson, with representatives from the council, emergency services, Rotary, Lions, Hospitality Association, business, charities and youth organisations. If you would like to attend please contact me on 721384 or email info4eastbournebonfire@gmx.co.uk

Eastbourne Bonfire Society is for the community, by the community, supporting local charities.

DAVID OLIVER, Upperton Road.
