Les Mis starlet Izzy to perform at awards

Eastbourne starlet Isabelle Allen will be performing at the Achievers Awards tonight (Friday) which honours the achievements of local people.

The 11-year-old, who shot to fame playing the young Cosette in Les Miserables, will be singing Castle on A Cloud. She was seen by people worldwide singing the song in the big budget cinema release.

The Moira House School pupil, who was picked from thousands of young girls to star in the film alongside Hollywood heavyweights Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried, has herself been nominated for an award at the ceremony tonight.

The awards will be taking place at the Winter Garden and celebrates the courage, achievement, commitment and kindness of people as well as examples of exceptional professionalism, outstanding customer service and real concern for the environment.

Isabelle, known as Izzy, has been busy taking part in a series of auditions since she appeared in Les Mis.

Referring to tonight’s event, she said, “I’m really looking forward to it and it feels really good to be nominated for an award by the local people. I feel really honoured about that.

“I’m really excited to be back up on stage singing my song that I sang in Les Miserables.”

When asked what she had been up to of late she added, “I have been taking part in lots of auditions and there are some things coming up.”

Categories at the Eastbourne Achiever’s Award include Young Sports Achiever, Lifetime Achievement, Leisure and Tourist Award of the Year, Environment Award, Young Achiever in Arts, Music and Culture and Overall Achiever of the Year.
