YOUNG unemployed people are being urged to volunteer at Eastbourne’s PDSA shop to gain valuable skills.
Soaring unemployment figures released recently have prompted the PDSA to launch a local initiative designed to introduce young people to volunteering to help improve their employment prospects while supporting a good cause.
The PDSA is especially appealing for support at its Eastbourne store and is urging potential volunteers in the town to sign up.
The charity has created the speed volunteering initiative called Lend a Paw Week and is urging people to visit the PDSA store for a taster session before April 9.
Eastbourne PDSA store manager Wendy Modestou said, “We have several volunteer vacancies here at Eastbourne PDSA store and I’d urge those who have just graduated or who have been made redundant to consider volunteering.
“In return for donating their time, we have lots to offer our volunteers, including a free retail training programme that can be tailored to individual interests and skills. Everyone involved benefits in some way, so find out how volunteering can help you today.”
