LANGNEY residents are celebrating after news that a much-needed crossing has received the green light.

The crossing is planned for Langney Rise, near Langney Shopping Centre.

Local councillor Troy Tester said, “We understand that East Sussex County Council is undertaking the design work and that construction is due to start in the new year.

“This has been a long time coming and will be much appreciated by local residents who have been deeply concerned about crossing this very busy road, especially the elderly and those with young children.”

Councillor Alan Shuttleworth added, “Langney Rise is one of the main routes into Eastbourne and is extremely busy.

“It is essential that there is a safe crossing for local residents to reach the shopping centre, local schools and other local amenities.”

Consultation on the details of the scheme are taking place this autumn with work due to start following the completion of this work.
