Ladies urged to join 10-mile night walk

LADIES are being asked to don their walking boots and sign up for a charity walk around the streets of Eastbourne at night.

The Night to Remember sponsored walk, which will raise funds for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice, will take place on May 14 but registration for the ladies-only event in now open.

The 10-mile walk will start at the Sovereign Centre at midnight.

Last year’s first ever Night to Remember in Eastbourne saw more than 400 ladies take to the streets to raise an amazing £57,000 for Chestnut Tree House.

Jackie Hoadley, whose son Mathew is supported by the hospice, rallied her friends to take part last year and is urging other ladies to do the same in 2011.

Jackie said, “I got involved in last year’s Night to Remember as a way of saying thank you for the help and support Chestnut Tree House has given Mathew and the rest of the family.

“It really is a fantastic place and Mathew just loves his visits to the house.

“I’m urging all the ladies out there to get involved and help us raise as much as we can for this very special local charity.”

Organiser Jo Carden said, “We want this year to be even bigger and better so need the support of our local ladies to help make the night another huge success.”

Registration costs £15 per person and includes a purple t-shirt, torch and medal.

The pack also has fundraising ideas and refreshments en route.

Places are limited and sell out quickly so ladies are asked to visit www.nighttoreember.org.uk to avoid disappointment.

Volunteers are also needed and anyone who can help on the night should call 01903 871843.
