Police have arrested a 21-year-old man following a robbery at the Ladbrokes betting shop in Seaside, Eastbourne yesterday morning.

Rowan Jones from Latimer Road, Eastbourne, was arrested by Sussex Police yesterday evening.

He has been charged with three counts of robbery from Ladbrokes on December 3, December 20 and January 9 in Eastbourne and with three firearms offences. He was due to appear before Eastbourne magistrates this morning.

Police had yesterday stepped up the hunt for the man they believe is responsible for the string of robberies in the town over the past month.

Yesterday, a man walked into the Ladbrokes betting shop in Seaside at around 9.30am. He demanded money from a cashier and fled with hundreds of pounds.

Ladbrokes had posted a reward of £10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robber.

The area in Seaside was cordoned off yesterday morning while police continued their investigation.
