Staff from the Hydro Hotel are going the whole hog in a Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraising push.

Kathy Taylor and Ian Turnbull have signed up for a muddy fundraising event in May – called The Whole Hog.

The fundraiser was launched at the seafront hotel on Friday (January 25).

A Marie Curie spokesperson said, “The Whole Hog will take place on Sunday the 12th of May 2013 at Hindleap Warren Outdoor Educational Centre, Forest Row, East Grinstead, and is an electronically timed 10k cross country run over and around the beautiful Ashdown Forest mixed with an assault course including; water, mud, tunnels, climbing rope and much more. Participants can take part in teams of three or as individuals and must be prepared to get wet and muddy!

“Participants and supporters will also benefit from entertainment as well a hog roast and drinks at the post race reception.”

Kathy’s team is made up of a group of fellow mums from her son’s school and Ian is joined by two of his mates from his local running club.

“Having two members of our team competing with separate teams works very well for us”, said Ian.

“Regular guests, staff and friends of the Hydro enjoy following our charitable activities and events.

“If we can add a bit of friendly competition to the mix while raising money, then it makes it more fun.

“Kathy and I will be able to encourage each other’s fundraising efforts but also can also

exchange a bit of friendly banter about who will come out ahead at the event.

“We are really looking forward to getting muddy on the day for a great cause.”

Louise Stone, Marie Curie event manager, said, “We are so pleased to be holding this event for a second year.”

Every £20 raised pays for an hour of nursing care.
