Commuters can now buy a weekly parking ticket for Eastbourne railway station.
The transport group of the MP’s Commission for Eastbourne met with Southern to ask for the change.
This came about after head of the group Dave Cooper pointed out to Southern he had to buy a ticket each day for a week’s parking – not only inconveniencing travellers, but something which also increased the length of queues at the ticket machines.
A spokesperson for Southern said, “The suggestion of a weekly parking ticket was a good one which we recognised would improve the service to Eastbourne station car park users.”
Mr Cooper said, “This is great news for regular purchasers of weekly season tickets and made complete common sense for a number of reasons.”
Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd added, “This is another example of how the MP’s Commission for Eastbourne is making a practical difference; all helping our town buck the economic trend.”
