MOTORCYCLISTS are being asked to attend a open days with advanced riders in Herstmonceux.
East Sussex Advanced Motorcyclists (ESAM) is affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists and offers free assessment rides with qualified observers, so bikers can find out more about how improving skills can make riding safer and more pleasurable.
ESAM meets on the second Sunday of every month at Reid Hall, Boreham Street, near Herstmonceux, between 9am and 1pm.
The group welcomes its own club members and any other motorcyclists interested in finding out more about what ESAM has to offer.
Pauline Goldsmith said, “Bikers are an extremely vulnerable group of road users. In the event of an accident, the risk of death or injury to a motorcyclist is 35 times greater than that to a car driver.
“There is no protection offered to them by their mode of transport.
“All that stands between the motorcyclist and the road surface is their protective clothing and their riding skills.
“It is vitally important that motorcyclists gain every possible advantage in order to prevent themselves from becoming yet another accident statistic.”
Motorcylists can just turn up on the day or visit www.es‑am.org.uk for more information. Alternatively, why not just turn up to one of the open Sundays where you will be most welcome?
