It was the best fundraiser ever for a dog rescue charity which held a fun day at Downs Leisure Centre in Seaford on Saturday May 25.

Seaford Family Fun Day and Dog Show was organised by Waifs and Strays Dog Rescue and raised more than £2,000 for the charity.

Hundreds of visitors attended the fun day and dog show, which also included a security dog display.

Waifs and Strays Dog Rescue founder Sue Philips said, “Wow, what a day. The weather was wonderful. So very lucky after the appalling weather on the previous two days. The turnout was amazing. Hundreds of people flowed in and out all day. Lots of lovely pooches took part in the dog show. Our judges were Karen Scott, head vet of Pet Doctors in Seaford, Trevor Weeks MBE who runs East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and the mayor of Seaford Anthony White and they were all brilliant. The judges really enjoyed their day. It was an amazing day.”

Niall and Liam Hastings from Alpha Guard K9 put on a fantastic security dog display which had the crowds cheering.

There was also a dog agility display, a fun dog trick display and have a go fly ball by the Dream Team.

Dogs and owners could take part in have a go agility, plus there were lots of stalls, pony rides and children’s rides.

The team from Waifs and Strays Dog Rescue, based in Seaford, were so very pleased that it was their best fundraiser yet, a total of £2,027.58.
