House prices across the South East have soared by 11.2 per cent in the last year - according to new figures released today.
A report from the Office for National Statistics states that the average property price in the region is now £339,000 as of March 2015.
This remains far higher than the UK average of £273,000, and although the rate of growth in the South East was higher than the 9.4 per cent average increase across England, it was eclipsed by that of East England (11.4 per cent), and Scotland (14.6 per cent).
The ONS’ House Price Index numbers are mix adjusted, which means different types of property are taken into account.
The last ONS breakdown of house sale prices by local authority is from 2013.
The median house prices for all dwelling types in West Sussex were: Arun £216,500, Adur £218,000, Chichester £275,000, Crawley £205,000, Horsham £285,000, Mid Sussex £269,475, and Worthing £202,000.
Meanwhile the median sale prices in East Sussex in 2013 were: Eastbourne £172,500, Hastings £155,000, Lewes £235,000, Rother £225,000 and Wealden £240,000.
The median price is calculated by finding the middle figure in a list of numbers sorted by order.
