Hospice’s tennis cash windfall

The organisers of Eastbourne’s Aegon International tennis tournament have chosen St Wilfrid’s Hospice for a charity grant scheme.

St Wilfrid’s is the only British cause to be recognised in the ATP Aces For Charity programme, which is suppporting other groups across the world including Columbia, Portugal, Tanzania,Serbia, Malaysia, America, Ukraine and Romania.

The hospice will receive a $10,000 grant which will help to pay for its new modern, purpose-built facility which is currently being constructed in Cross Levels Way.

Gavin Fletcher, LTA Tournament Director for the Aegon International, said, “I’m delighted that StWilfrid’s and the Aegon International have been recognised in this way.

“The hospice is a fantastic charity and we are excited to be associated with them as a charity partner. They are a worthy cause and I’m sure the grant will make a massive difference.”

Charlotte Nuckhir, Head of Community Engagement at St Wilfrid’s Hospice, said: “We’re so grateful to the ATP and Aegon International for supporting our vital work with this grant.

“St Wilfrid’s is dedicated to transforming end-of-life care in our community and this grant will make a huge difference. Being the only UK charity to be recognised by this scheme is just amazing!”
