A horse rider has been flown to a London hospital with serious head injuries after falling while out riding.
The 28-year-old woman, who has not been named, was helicoptered to the Royal London Hospital yesterday after falling from her horses on A271 in Hailsham.
Police and emergency services were called to Under Road, Magham Down, just before 6pm to reports that the rider had lost control when her horse was startled and started galloping at speed.
PC Dan Schiraldi from the Road Policing Investigation Unit said, “This is a very unfortunate incident and our thoughts are with the injured woman, who remains in a critical condition in hospital.
“It is still not clear why the horse became startled and we are appealing to anyone who saw the rider and horse in the area prior to the incident to please call 101 quoting Op Banton.”
