Eastbourne’s unsung heroes were honoured at the town’s Achievers Awards at the Winter Garden on Friday evening (April 26).
Hundreds of people enjoyed a three-course meal, entertainment and the awards ceremony, which paid tribute to the great and the good of the town.
The awards took place at the Winter Garden and celebrated the courage, achievement, commitment and kindness of people as well as examples of exceptional professionalism, outstanding customer service and real concern for the environment.
Among the awards were an Overall Achiever of the Year award for John Purkiss, of People Matter, and a Young Achiever in the Arts, Music and Culture award for young Les Miserables star Isabelle Allen (pictured left).
The awards ceremony was hosted by actor and director Jonathan Linsley, of Last of the Summer Wine fame, and Beverly Thompson, former BBC South Today presenter.
Entertainment was provided by The Voices choir and a recording of Isabelle Allen singing in her hit blockbuster film was played to the guests as the youngster went up to collect her award.
Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd gave a speech about local issues at the event and honoured the night’s award winners.
The award winners, their supporters and the event sponsors danced the night away at a disco after the presentations.
