TWO SCHEMES in East Sussex that promote honest and reliable traders have recently boosted their numbers with new members.

At a ceremony held in Eastbourne, East Sussex County Council welcomed 14 new firms to its Buy with Confidence (BWC) scheme.

The new additions bring the total membership up to 393 – making the scheme one of the biggest in the country.

A further 54 businesses that have applied to join are awaiting approval.

The council also welcomed 15 new members to its Support with Confidence (SWC) scheme – for businesses providing social care and support services.

This scheme now has 50 members, with a further 43 awaiting approval.

The businesses joining both schemes were presented with their membership certificates by chairman of the county council, Councillor Chris Dowling.

The BWC scheme provides people with a list of approved traders covering a huge variety of goods and services right across East Sussex and people can search the list online at www.eastsussex.gov.uk/buywithconfidence or telephone Trading Standards on 08454 040506.

People interested in finding businesses providing social care and support to help them live independently can also search for approved traders.

The list of businesses – all vetted by the county council – is available online at www.eastsussex.gov.uk/supportwithconfidence or by telephone on 0354 6080191.

Businesses interested in joining either scheme can contact the Buy & Support With Confidence Team on Eastbourne 463440 or email buywithconfidence@eastsussex.gov.uk or supportwithconfidence@eastsussex.gov.uk
