Hit and run victim in Golden Cross left with broken leg

Police are hunting a motorist who knocked down a pedestrian in Golden Cross and drove off, leaving him with serious leg injuries.

The 25-year-old victim was a Dutch man who was staying at a nearby campsite with a friend and was on his way there when he was struck at 1.45am on Sunday (July 14).

He was walking north along Nash Street when they were passed by three vehicles travelling south, the last of which clipped him.

His right leg was broken in two places and his ankle joint was crushed. He was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment.

The offender was driving a vehicle that is described as being a small three-door hatchback.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident or who saw the three vehicles being driven in the area around the time of the collision.
