Hailsham is gearing up to a fun-filled Christmas Extravaganza, which takes place in the town centre this Saturday (December 14) from 9am to 4pm.
The town centre will be home to more than 60 market stalls selling a wide range of local and regional fine food, Christmas gifts, decorations, cards, cakes, jewellery and other items. A hog roast, roasted chestnuts and mulled wine are also set to be highlights of the event, along with a skate rink from 10am to dusk.
The festive festival will feature a live compere and a wide range of entertainment for all the family including special performances from the Jazz Caverners, South of Saturn and the Kingfisher Marching Band.
There will also be Father Christmas and his sleigh in the High Street, courtesy of Hailsham Rotary Club and Asda, who have assisted by providing the gifts for the children.
A Reindeer Rodeo (10am-4pm), face painting (10am-4pm) and Punch and Judy (10am-1.30pm), as well as a children’s pottery workshop (9am-4pm) and balloon modelling and magic (1.30pm-4pm) are also planned.
Organised by Hailsham Town Council, Hailsham Forward and the Hailsham and District Chamber of Commerce the extravaganza is set to bring energy and a festive atmosphere to the town centre, guaranteeing fun for all the family.
Town Mayor Jo Bentley, urged residents to: “start the festive season with a really enjoyable Christmas shopping visit to the town centre and stock up on Christmas presents and decorations, while enjoying plenty of festive cheer including great food and drink and entertainment on the day.
“This year’s town Christmas event will have something for everyone and will give people an opportunity to experience the hustle-bustle and enjoyment festive events in Hailsham are renowned for.
“The lively programme includes a wide range of entertainment and activities which we hope will enthuse residents and visitors alike, whilst supporting local businesses during the festive period.”
