A TEENAGER from Eastbourne has landed a starring role in the hit BBC soap EastEnders.
Hetti Bywater is to play a regular role as wild child Lucy Beale.
The 17-year-old, who has already started filming as the young character, is the latest actor to play the role of the daughter of Walford businessman Ian Beale.
She replaces Melissa Suffield who played the role from 2004 to 2010. Her casting was meant to remain a secret, until she was snapped filming a funeral scene.
Hetti has been attending the Theatre Workshop Stage School in Eastbourne since she was 11-years-old.
Theatre Workshop director Lora Munro said Hetti’s introduction to the school and training she has received there has helped her find previous roles in other BBC dramas such as Casualty and Doctors.
Lora said, “We are thrilled for Hetti. She has always been one of my most hard- working and gifted students.
“It’s been exciting watching Hetti grow and develop as an actress and person over the years and she is now receiving the success she deserves.
“How proud I am is beyond words.”
Hetti’s character Lucy is due to return to the square after spending some time in Devon, and will be coming back to Walford after hearing some sad news.
Lucy Beale, the daughter of Cindy Beale, will return to our screens as a spoilt but ultimately insecure teen.
