THE DGH is reassuring local women that the Trust did not use the faulty PIP breast implants.
There has been international concern around implants made by French company PIP (Poly Implant Prosthesis) after it was revealed they had used silicone that was for industrial rather than medical use.
The Trust uses implants during reconstruction surgery for women who have undergone a mastectomy.
Mr Simon Allan, consultant breast surgeon at the Trust, said, “We would like to reassure anyone who has undergone breast surgery in Eastbourne or Hastings that none of the Trust’s three breast surgeons have ever used PIP implants.
“We have all only ever used Mentor implants in any of our breast implant operations.
“These Mentor breast implants are worldwide market leading implants.”
Anyone concerned with their breast implants should contact their GP.
