The roar of the Harley Davidsons will return to Eastbourne town centre next week with another summer fun day at the seafront end of Terminus Road.

More than 200 motorcycles will descend on what traders are calling The Boulevard as part of an ongoing campaign to breathe new life into a stretch of road that was once among the town’s busiest shopping streets.

The Harley Davidson motorcycle rally from 6pm will be the finale to a fun day on Wednesday, June 29, that will again see this top stretch of Terminus Road closed to traffic.

The fun day will see an extension of the regular Wednesday market, along with live music and street entertainers.

Star attraction of the last Boulevard event were the motorcycles and Eastbourne UnLtd Chamber of Commerce has worked with the retailers and John Shaw Harley Davidson to bring them back - in even greater numbers.

Chamber chief executive Christina Ewbank said, “We’re expecting upwards of 200 motorcycles, which will again make for a fantastic sight.

“Herald reporter Annemarie Field and I will be riding into town on the back of a Harley so we will need to dig out our leathers and jeans!

“This stretch of road will again take on a really continental feel with people strolling along the Boulevard, enjoying food, drinks and entertainment.

“The tables and chairs will be spilling on to the pavement without the interruption of traffic. Come along and join us. It’s going to be great fun.”

There are plans for The Boulevard fun days to continue throughout the summer on the last Wednesday of each month.
