ORGANISATIONS can now apply for money raised during last year’s Eastbourne Half Marathon.

Every year the sponsorship money collected after the race is distributed to local charities and groups and organisers are urging them to now send in written applications.

The main beneficiaries from the 2011 race were Eastbourne RNLI and the Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice, and an amount of money is set aside for smaller projects within the Eastbourne area.

Previously, donations have been made to sports clubs, schools, scouts, and guides, and projects have included the provision of equipment, funding trips, helping the street pastors and even for establishing a school bird club.

Written applications are now invited for funding this year.

Organiser Mike Reid said, “Experience has shown that sometimes as little as £100 will make a big difference to whether an organisation can undertake a project and the Half Marathon team looks forward to seeing how it can help such plans come to fruition.

“The absolute maximum which can be considered this year will be for funding up to £250.”

Applications can be sent to Reid+Dean, 99 South Street, Eastbourne BN21 4LU, or to info@reiddean.com to arrive no later than Tuesday January 31.
