HAILSHAM: Tell council about your street party

AS the royal wedding approaches Wealden District Council has asked local communities planning a street party over the bank holiday weekend, April 29 to May 2, to submit road closure applications by Friday March 18.

Councillor Pam Doodes, cabinet member for community, said “We don’t want to hold up anyone’s festive plans but we do need to allow time to consult with the emergency services and East Sussex County Council to make sure a street closure does not jeopardise anyone’s safety by blocking access routes.

“It is not so much a case of get me to the church on time, but get the form in on time. We want to keep red tape to a minimum and avoid any disappointment caused by applications for this special event arriving too late,” she added.

Application forms and further information about the procedures involved are available on the Wealden website.
