Hailsham teenager stabbed in early hours of New Year’s Day

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old boy was punched and stabbed while out with friends in the early hours of New Year’s Day in Hailsham.

The victim was with a group of five boys walking along a path by Hailsham Pond at about 12.45am on New Year’s Day.

As the group came to Bellbanks Road, they were approached by a group of men and women aged in their 20s.

There was an altercation between the groups and the 17-year-old was punched to the floor by two men before the group made off in the direction of Archery Walk.

When the victim got up and walked off, he realised he had been stabbed in the buttock. He was taken to the Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information is asked to contact police by emailing 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phoning 101 quoting serial 0282 of 01/01.
