A 17-year-old girl from Hailsham has been left with serious injuries after being involved in a crash which killed another driver.

The fatal collision happened on Argos Hill in Mayfield at around 6.15pm on Thursday (January 14). It involved three vehicles - a blue Toyota, a blue Skoda and a black Vauxhall.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a 65-year-old woman from Mayfield, was taken to Kings College Hospital in London where she sadly died.

One of the other drivers, a 17-year-old girl from Hailsham, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The third driver, a 24-year-old woman from Heathfield, was not injured.

The vehicles were recovered and the road fully re-opened shortly after midnight.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash.

Sergeant Sarah Potter said, “We would like to hear from any witnesses, particularly a woman who was seen driving a dark hatchback-style car and had to leave the scene before police arrived to collect her daughter.

“Anyone who saw the collision can email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting Operation Westwick.”
