MORE than £300 was raised for good causes at a charity quiz night and raffle at the Charles Hunt Centre in Vicarage Field. The event attracted more than 50 people who battled it out in eight teams.
Host for the evening, town mayor and Hailsham In Bloom member councillor Jeff Bentley-Astor, tested quiz goers’ brains with specialist Harry Potter and The Beatles rounds and a host of other quick-fire questions. The quiz also included a challenging classical music round.
It was the second quiz and raffle by Hailsham In Bloom in partnership with the Hailsham Lions’ Club, following the success of aprevious one at Hailsham Community Hall last March, which raised £400 for both causes.
Raffle prizes, which included cinema vouchers, ten-pin bowling vouchers, wine, chocolates and homeware items, were donated by Hailsham Lions’ Club, Tesco, Waitrose, Hailsham Pavilion, Freedom Leisure and Hailsham Cellars. The prize for the winning team was a luxury case of wine.
Cllr Richard Grocock, deputy town mayor and chairman of the Hailsham In Bloom Committee, said, “It’s very satisfying to get members of the community together for a great social evening while supporting two excellent causes. We are extremely grateful to all who helped to make the evening such a success”
