WEALDEN District Council’s £6.5m move to a single HQ site in Hailsham will be considered by the council’s planning committee south at a meeting tomorrow (Thursday February 3).
Arrangements are already in hand to provide temporary office accommodation for Hailsham staff in Eastbourne and at Pine Grove while the refurbishment on the single site HQ at Vicarage Lane is being carried out.
The proposed refurbishment and extension of the Vicarage Lane offices and adjacent Community Hall, to provide a single site operational headquarters building for Wealden District Council, has been recommended for approval and Wealden expects to move back in next autumn 2012.
But Crowborough councillors have asked Wealden to push back the move in light of government budget cuts.
At a full town council meeting on Tuesday, last week Crowbourgh Town Council agreed to write to Wealden asking it to reconsider its decision to relocate its Pine Grove offices to Hailsham.
