THE MAYOR of Hailsham will be getting into the Christmas spirit when he joins in the celebrations of the Hailsham Choral Society’s annual Christmas Carol Concert.
Councillor Jeff Bentley-Astor will be attending the popular service, taking place at St Mary’s Church in Hailsham on December 15.
Incorporating a mixture of classical and modern styles, the concert will feature such Christmas classics as Once in Royal David’s City and Silent Night, and more contemporary festive favourites including Deck The Hall, Away In A Manger, The One-Horse Open Sleigh and Sussex Carol.
The concert will be conducted by Barbara Edwards, with Marion Nicholls and Alison Gordon as accompanists.
Councillor Bentley-Astor, encouraging people to go along and enjoy the real spirit of Christmas, said, “The ever-popular Christmas Carol Concert promises to be a very festive occasion for everyone, featuring high quality performances by some accomplished singers and musicians.
“A lot of hard work by the Choral Society has gone into preparing this special performance and my wife the mayoress Debbie and I are delighted to be attending.”
Michael Tanner, chairman of Hailsham Choral Society, said, “Our Christmas concert is one of the highlights of the choir’s year and we are delighted to be able to hold it in St Mary’s Church after the success of our summer event there.
“As always, there will be a good mix of seasonal music for everyone to enjoy and we are looking forward to seeing old and new friends to celebrate the season with us.”
The evening will begin at 7.30pm. Admission tickets are priced at £8 and are available from The Camera Centre in Hailsham, subject to availability. Tickets will also be available at the door.
