YOUNG people in Hailsham can now take advantage of free support and advice on relationships, pregnancy, contraception and sexual health issues.
Sessions at 1 Market Square’s Info-Point facility, also offer confidential information and support on all sexual health related issues, including sexually transmitted infections and their prevention.
Free contraception, free pregnancy testing and free STD testing is available to young people aged 11 to 25 on a confidential basis.
Andy Joyes, youth project co-ordinator at Hailsham Town Council, said it is a priority to improve the sexual health of young people in Hailsham.
He told the Gazette, “Not only is it important we continue to provide relationship support to promote young people’s welfare and help reduce teenage pregnancies, but make sure that those using this service are guaranteed confidentiality in a non-judgemental environment.
“The service builds upon the preventative work that is already carried out through a variety of places across Hailsham including schools and youth centres, and any young person that feels they need advice or information is welcome to come along to any of our scheduled drop-in sessions.”
Sexual Health meetings take place at Infopoint on weekdays (7.15pm-9.30pm).
