A Hailsham Pavilion committee member has run 10km at east London’s Olympic Park to raise money for the Hailsham Old Pavilion Society (HOPS).
Katie Richards took part in the run on Sunday, July 17, raising £779 for the HOPS.
HOPS is a charity which raises funds to support and maintain Hailsham’s iconic independent cinema and entertainment venue.
Katie said, “There are always projects at The Pavilion which need paying for and this is where the continued support of HOPS is so vital.
Unfortunately for Katie, July 17 was one of the hottest days of the year. However that didn’t stop her running round the Olympic Park, scene of the London 12 Olympics four years ago.
She finished in one hour, eight minutes, running the last kilometre through the tunnel into the stadium to the music from Chariots of Fire booming out through loudspeakers.
“It was just the boost I needed to get me round the running track and across the finish line,” said Katie.
