A STREET in Willingdon was transformed into a winter wonderland for a charity street party at the weekend.

Residents in St Anne’s Road, Lower Willingdon, organised the event to raise cash for the Children with Cancer Fund, based nearby in Polegate.

Houses and businesses in the area donated tombola prizes, mince pies and wine and residents set up stalls selling mulled wine, hot dogs, mince pies and festive cakes and tombola tickets. The St Anne’s Road Brass Ensemble also played hymns and carols with visitors joining in.

Despite the snow and freezing temperatures, almost 100 people turned out to support the event and around £450 was raised.

One organiser Meryl Plant said, “We are so pleased people came out to support us despite the weather. We also thank all the residents of St Anne’s Road and businesses at the Triangle for their generous donations for tombola prizes.”
