A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl who was thrown from her horse has escaped serious injury.
The incident happened in Thornwell Road, Willmington, on the afternoon of Sunday (July 3) when a moped rider carelessly passed the horse rider and frightened the animal.
The young girl was thrown off the horse and the escort holding the horse was dragged along the road and suffered grazing.
The nine-year-old suffered minor injuries and was taken to Eastbourne DGH and kept in overnight for observation before being released the next day.
Police are appealing for witnesses because the moped rider did not stop after the accident. Police say the moped was grey, had a loud exhaust and was being driven in a careless manner. The moped rider was wearing a black grey and yellow crash helmet with T-Rex written on the side.
