THE EASTBOURNE Lions Club is gearing up for the annual classic motorcycle meet and run, which is taking place at the Western Lawns on Sunday June 5.
Motorcycles from the early 1900s to the present day will be arriving at the Western Lawns to meet and show off their machines to bikers and other interested members of the public.
At 11am mayor Carolyn Heaps and John Stebbings of Stephen Rimmer Solicitors, the event sponsors, will wave the flag to send the motorcyclists off on a 60-mile run around the East Sussex countryside.
While the motorcyclists are on their run, the spectators at the Western Lawn will be entertained with on stage entertainment including the groups No State and Thorntree, The Kingfisher Band and various other acts. There will also be a funfair and various stalls.
The event is run alongside the Eastbourne Rotary Club’s Fun walk, which will start at 11.30am.
During her visit to last weekend’s Fiesta event Carolyn Heaps visited the Eastbourne Lions Gazebo and sat on the motorcycle of one of the entrants Terence Wakeling who is helping the Lions arrange the event.
Late entries for the Meet and Run can turn up at the Western Lawn from 9am and further details are at www.eastbournelions.net
